Sit with a family who is finding their way.

Walking with families. Lifting every child.

More families are asking for help than one person can sit with. Steady Path Society is building a small team to take that work on: someone to talk a parent through what a diagnosis means for school, or to explain a benefits form in a language the family actually thinks in. Today our founder, Cordelia Aiwize, does it on her own. A nurse and an education assistant have offered to help, and both have raised or worked alongside a child with a disability. They will apply through this form after the launch, the same way as everyone else.

This is an application, not a sign-up, and the screening is real. Some people are not right for it, and some are right for it later rather than now. If you want to help but would rather not sit with a family in distress, say so on the form. There is other work, and being honest about that is useful, not a mark against you.

What happens after you apply

Application. We read every one. Some we turn down.

Interview. Half an hour on the phone. We ask what you are suited to; you ask us anything.

Criminal record check. Required for work with children and vulnerable adults. We tell you how it works, and whether there is a fee, before it starts.

Applying costs you nothing, and nothing is decided until we have spoken with you. Expect three weeks or so end to end.

I understand that a criminal record check will be required before I work with any family, and that Steady Path Society will arrange it. Saying yes here does not start one.

I have read and agree to the Confidentiality and Use of Information terms, including the one exception: if I have reason to believe a child needs protection, the law requires me to report it and confidentiality does not stand in the way.
